Halton Food Bank Donation Initiative:

In May 2020, the African Caribbean Council of Halton (ACCH) decided to explore ways in which we could support our Halton community during COVID-19 with immediacy and impact, acknowledging that this pandemic has affected us all in different ways, and some more so than others. We also knew that an increasing number of families had been reaching out to food banks in our Halton community for support.

As people of faith, we understand the need to help others and to carry each other’s burden. As such, the ACCH decided to launch the Halton Food Bank Donation Initiative. Members were asked to donate whatever funds they could to support five Halton good banks - one in each of the Halton MP constituencies. ACCH members raised $1655 (May 2020), which will be provided to the following five (5) Halton Food Banks (tax receipts will be provided to individual ACCH donors):

1) Kerr Street Mission, Oakville North- Burlington: $330

2) Salvation Army, Khi Community Food Bank, Milton: $350

3) Georgetown Breadbasket, Wellington-Halton Hills: $340

4) Oakville Fareshare Food Bank, Oakville: $320 5) Food for Life, Burlington: $325
